Venus de NYC, soutenus par leurs camarades universitaires (Columbia) et encensés depuis leur premier EP (Projet éponyme, sorti en été 2007) par la plupart des journaux, ils représentent le groupe du moment...Les Vampire Weekend arborent un style dépouillé et des bouilles de jeunes premiers, frais et très simple. Christopher Tomson (guitariste), Chris Baio (batteur), Ezra Koenig (chanteur), Rostam Batmanglij (fils de réfugiés iraniens, au clavier). Influences diverses, le chanteur du groupe cite parmi ses références le fabuleux Orchestra Baobab, groupe de musique sénégalais né dans les années 1970. Peu surprenant donc de retrouver un petit quelque chose d'Afrique dans leur manière de jouer.

Leur album est un mélange subtil de rock, de pop anglaise, de sonorités africaines, îliennes, propre à une ville comme New York ou le brassage culturel y est fort.
